Hey my little grindylows, how are you all feeling this week?
I’m finally a little bit more settled in my new pad, helped by the fact that after two weeks of sitting on the floor OUR SOFA HAS ARRIVED AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL. Anyway, this is a book blog, not an interior design blog (crossover potential?!) and I’m now on a mission to get back into some semblance of a reading and blogging schedule. I feel like I’ve definitely neglected the blogging community over the last few weeks, but hopefully now I’m back on it! If you have any awesome posts that I may have missed, feel free to share them with me in the comments. I’d love, love, love to catch up!
Seven and a bit months into blogging and I still get a lovely feeling that warms my little heart whenever some kind soul nominates my humble corner of the internet for an award, or tags me in a post. The biggest of big thank yous go to Holly at Nut Free Nerd, Zainab at A Bibliophile’s Obsession and The Jouska Blog for tagging me. Please head over and check out their posts and their blogs – they’re all wonderfully talented and definitely deserve your time. 🙂
I’m gonna have a pop at answering three questions from each blogger, else you guys will be asleep by about midway down. Good? Great. Let’s go.
- Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
- Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
- Give them 11 questions of your own
What do you love most about blogging?
You guys, of course! Readers, commenters, browsers, people I can chat Harry Potter with without them getting bored within three minutes, bloggers I can connect with Twitter about feminism or mental health in YA, writers and bibliophiles and chums from all over the world who share my passion for reading and literature. You all make blogging so much more awesome than I ever thought it would be.
What’s your all-time favourite movie?
Aside from ‘what’s your favourite book?’ this is like the world’s hardest question. I watch a lot more widely than I read, so I can happily go from Bridget Jones’ Diary to The Karate Kid (incidentally two of my favourite films) without batting an eyelid. For this one I’m gonna go with an epic classic – The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
Which book makes you laugh out loud?
Definitely Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison. This series gives me proper milk-snorting, face-hurting, uncontrollable giggles, no matter how many times I read it. So funny, so relateable and so, so heartfelt.
Word of advice: Not one for the tube. People don’t seem to appreciate a solo female with uncontrollable giggles on their morning commute into London Paddington.
Where is your next travel destination?
Ahhh I’m one of these people who makes these incredibly detailed fantasy travel plans with names of hotels and places to go and see and then never actually manages to follow through with them due to work/money/life/the irritating condition that is being an adult and having responsibilities. My boyfriend and I are going to try and get away to Italy next year, but if we’re talking travel fantasies here, I’d go to Vietnam.
What is an item on your bucket list?
Great question! One of the top things on my bucket list at the moment is to go to Universal Studios in Florida. Two words: Harry Potter.
Where do you buy most of you books from?
I usually buy my books from Waterstones or a physical bookshop. Sure, books are cheaper from Amazon or the Book Depository, but I always feel a bit cheated out of the experience of buying a book if I can’t browse the shelves with a coffee, or fall in love with a book on the half price table that I’ve never heard of before. For me, half of the fun of buying books is in the browsing. #bookshelfporn
What does your perfect day look like?
Food. Lots of food and lots of books. Nah, on a serious note, my perfect day would involve being on holiday with good friends or my family (or both!), swimming and reading on the beach, followed by a delicious dinner outdoors and a few eensy weeny drinks of the alcoholic variety. Bonus happy points for anything that comes with an umbrella or a sparkler because that’s just the sort of classy girl I am.
If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?
Definitely the mid-late eighties! I’m obsessed with big hair, stonewashed jeans, eighties music and the Brat Pack. Unfortunately, very few of these things (if any) are socially acceptable any more.
Bon Jovi is still acceptable, right? RIGHT?
Your pet peeves?
I have a few, but not that many of them are blog appropriate…haha! I HATE people who drive really slowly on the motorway, as well as people who read messages on WhatsApp and then don’t reply. Dude, I know you’ve seen it the little blue ticks tell me so.
- Who would you cast to play you in a film of your life?
- How do you organise your bookshelves?
- Pizza or pasta?

- Do you believe in fate?
- What’s your one must-have blogging resource?
- What’s your dream job?
- Harry Potter and The Cursed Child: Canon or fan-fiction?
